Kitchens @ The Loft can offer you a full new kitchen or, if you prefer, we can refurbish your existing kitchen with new doors and worktops, in either case we would normally call out to your house to take measurements and then prepare a no obligation quote for you.
We will discuss your needs, take measurements, and we will then work on a new design for your kitchen using our CAD software and produce a quote based on the design and choices you make. We will then invite you back into the showroom to present the design and quotation. After you have had time to consider everything, we can then make an amendment if required and produce a final quote. We will never harass our customers into making a decision and it is our belief that people appreciate being treated in the way we would like to be treated ourselves.
Many people may be perfectly happy with the existing layout of their kitchen and find that if their cabinets are in good condition, then it will make sense to work with what they already have. We have a large range of made to measure doors to fit any kitchen cabinet along with worksurfaces, sinks, taps, appliances and accessories and we can also add in additional units and drawers if required, basically we can do as much or as little in the kitchen as you choose, the decision is yours! In many situations, we can leave you with a refurbishment quote at the end of our visit and again we leave it entirely up to you as to whether you would like to proceed without any pressure from us.
After many years of establishing working relationships with our suppliers, we believe as an independent retailer that we have a very comprehensive offering of products which balances the needs of the majority as well as the few. We can therefore cover a wide range of pricing options, one size definitely does NOT fit all when it comes to kitchens, although this can be a curse as well as a blessing as there can be too many choices for some and too many pricing options for us!
We have been established for twenty years and would like to think this is largely due to our customer service as most of our work comes from customer recommendations, it may be your first kitchen, however it is most definitely not ours! We pride ourselves on our level of communication, both to our customers, so you are not left wondering what is happening next, and to our tradesmen so they know the small details like keeping the front door closed so the neighbour’s cat can’t get in!
We provide a free design and quotation service to our customers and all we ask in return is that you spend some time considering your requirements ahead of our visit and you are more than welcome to browse our showroom beforehand.
We work alongside a group of very capable tradespeople who are part of a well established team and each has their own speciality, we do not use ‘jack of all trades’. We co-ordinate all the trades to be scheduled in the correct order for the installation with each of them knowing and respecting what the next person will need to do. With larger and more complex installations, we supply a copy of the outline schedule to the customer so they know what each stage will be, and when to expect a particular tradesperson.
Can I get a no obligation quote?
Yes, you can make an appointment for us to call out and provide you with a no obligation quote for either a refurbishment or a full kitchen by calling us or dropping us an email.
How long does a home visit take?
We will normally be able to gather all the information required to give you a quote in around an hour, we do not stay in your home any longer than necessary in order to pressure you into buying something, (we like to get home at night!).
Is the full kitchen design service free?
Yes, we produce a quotation and a design using our CAD software, (worth £250), free of charge including one free redesign. All we ask in return is that you respect the time and effort we put into this work, subsequent redesigns may be chargeable.
How long does the design process take?
We will normally have a design and quotation ready for you to come into the showroom and discuss within seven days of your initial appointment.
Do I get a copy of the drawings to take away?
The drawings we produce remain the intellectual property of Kitchens @ The Loft until the first deposit has been paid at which point the drawings are released. You are more than welcome to come back into the showroom as often as you like to view and discuss these, however we would respectfully ask that you respect the time and effort we take into producing these and do not take photographs. We will of course give you the quotation away so you can understand everything that has been included.
How long does the quote remain valid for?
We do not place a specific timeframe on how long our quotes are valid for and would only amend the prices if there had been any price increases from our suppliers since the quote was given.
Can the price increase once the final contract has been signed?
We will never charge more for a job if we have underestimated anything; however, we do have to make certain assumptions that any work carried out previously has been done to a certain standard. If we do discover anything after the work has commenced, most notably sub-standard electrical work then we would always discuss this with you, and if required an additional quote can be given. This is most definitely the exception, not the rule.
Do I have to pay everything upfront?
No, we work on the basis of a three-stage payment system, one third when the order is confirmed and the installation date has been scheduled, another third at the start of the work, and the final third on completion.
Do you offer credit facilities?
No, we accept payment by bank transfer, debit card, cheque or cash. Credit cards are only accepted by arrangement due to the high processing costs.
How long is the lead time?
This will vary with whether you are looking for supply only, with most goods available within two to three weeks, or supplied and fitted which can vary from two to six months depending on the size of the job and our installation schedule.
Will the installation date move?
Although we could never guarantee that there would not be something beyond our control, (such as Covid!), which would force us to change your installation date, it is not our normal practise to do so.
How long does the installation take?
All installation times vary in length due to the differing nature of each one, however the average length of time for a refurbishment is around three days and around a week for a full kitchen, unless there is a requirement to template for solid worksurfaces which takes around a week from template to installation. When an installation is confirmed, we will always inform you of the expected duration.
What length of warranty is offered on installations?
We offer a five-year warranty on all installations, full kitchens or refurbishments - sinks, taps and appliances are covered by the manufacturer’s own warranty which varies across different products.
What service do I get for a supply only kitchen?
We will provide you with the same design service as we would if we were fitting your kitchen and once an order is confirmed will provide you with a full set of dimensioned drawings for your installer. We will deliver the goods to your property at an agreed time to suit you, with all units fully built.
Are your kitchen doors made to measure?
We carry a full range of made to measure doors in different styles and finishes as well as standard size doors.
Do you undertake any structural work as part of a kitchen project?
We are not qualified to advise on structural work and do not employ builders as part of our team and are therefore unable to carry out structural alterations. We are, however, happy to undertake non-structural work with any permissions or warrants remaining the responsibility of the householder.
Do you use subcontractors?
All our tradesmen are employed on a subcontractor basis, however they have all worked with us for a considerable period of time and we never use anyone who is not tried and trusted.
Do you take all the rubbish away?
Yes, we remove all rubbish from site, the only exception to this are fridges and freezers which we suggest are removed by the council, this is due to the specialist recycling required for these appliances.
Does the waste you take away go into landfill?
No, we recycle the vast majority of the waste - the wood and chipboard products, the appliances and the cardboard are all taken away for recycling with minimal waste going to landfill. We are registered for waste removal with SEPA.
Why is the business called Kitchens @ The Loft?
Our present showroom is called ‘The Loft’, quite simply because the previous owner used to keep pigeons in the top half of the building, so we carried this over, (the pigeons have since moved out!).
